We’re excited to welcome James Harper to the Maclane’s Automotive team! As part of our continued investment in serving more European vehicle owners, James brings almost 15 years of professional experience and specialized expertise in diagnosing and repairing BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Jaguar, Land Rover, MINI, and other premium European brands.
Before joining our staff at the Lincoln Highway location in Downingtown, James spent the last eight years specializing in European vehicles. Most recently, he worked at Garttmeyer Automotive in Wayne, a respected Main Line European automotive repair specialist, where he further refined his expertise in diagnosing and repairing some of the industry’s most sophisticated vehicles, building a reputation for accurate diagnostics, meticulous workmanship, and honest recommendations.
An ASE Certified Master Automobile Technician, James holds both an Associate of Applied Science in High Performance Automotive Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Automotive Technology Supervision from the University of Northwestern Ohio. He has earned an extensive list of certifications, including ASE Master Technician (A1-A9), Advanced Engine Performance (L1), Electronic Diesel Diagnosis (L2), Hybrid & Electric Vehicle Specialist (L3), and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (L4), along with Pennsylvania Safety & Emissions Inspector and Emissions Repair Technician certifications.
His technical expertise includes advanced drivability diagnostics, electrical system diagnosis and repair, module programming and coding, timing chain replacement, engine repairs, transmission service, suspension systems, fabrication, welding, and performance tuning. Whether tracking down an intermittent electrical issue or performing complex engine repairs, James is passionate about delivering accurate diagnoses and high-quality workmanship.
Outside the shop, James enjoys continuing his education and expanding his technical knowledge through vehicle tuning with HP Tuners. His experience calibrating the engines and transmissions in some of his personal vehicles has given him an even deeper understanding of modern Bosch engine management systems-the advanced technology used in many European vehicles-which further strengthens his ability to accurately diagnose complex performance and drivability concerns.
James believes that honesty, integrity, and doing the job right the first time are the foundation of exceptional automotive service. His commitment to continuous learning and delivering high-quality repairs makes him a tremendous addition to our team, and we’re excited to offer our customers an even greater depth of expertise for European vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repair.
